Ahava is part of the Free Methodist Church — a distinct Wesleyan denomination, not the United Methodist Church. We share historic Methodist roots, but we have our own story, beliefs, and identity.

 

So, what makes us “Free” Methodists?

When the Free Methodist Church was founded in 1860, its leaders believed the church should reflect the freedom found in Jesus. They opposed slavery, rejected the practice of charging for preferred seating in churches, advocated for the full participation of women in ministry, and desired worship that was open to the work of the Holy Spirit.

Today, that same heart continues: the gospel is for everyone, God’s grace transforms us, and we are called to live lives of holy love.
